Lately, I've been more and more interested in Google Tag Manager.
I've known its potential for years. In fact, in 2013, I wrote an article for Smashing about it. Still, Brolik's Tag Manager container was cluttered with the remnants of many trials and many errors, and we didn't take full advantage of it. We didn't use Tag Manager for our clients... only as a test on our own website.
When we recently relaunched, we decided to go all in on Tag Manager, and I spent a lot of time learning how to do it right.
To say the least, I'm impressed.
I see the potential to save hassle and inter-department friction through Tag Manager. I see an empowered marketing team that can experiment themselves into real results. I also see happy developers who don't have to troubleshoot Analytics events in addition to building the actual product.
Since I decided that Tag Manager is the future, it only made sense to convert truedrew.co to Tag Manager. In the process, I figured I'd screenshot every step just in case I could use it for something. If nothing else, we could put together a tutorial for future employees once we go Tag Manager-only for clients (I'm going to push for it).
Before I knew it, I created a free email course.
I want to grow my reach, but being cool/witty and sharing helpful articles on social media just isn't fast enough for me. I want to provide value to people, and I want them to listen when I have something to offer in the future, because they know it's likely that I'll provide value again.
So here it is. The first of more, I hope. My Free Google Tag Manager Email Course.
If you sign up and take the course, I'd love to know what you think!
